“Volunteerisn in the Racine Community” 2008 Scholarship Recipient Brittany Schumacher

The Junior League of Racine has selected Brittany Schumacher as their 2008 “Volunteerism in the Racine Community” Scholarship recipient.

This scholarship is awarded annually to a female high school graduating senior who has demonstrated strong and continuing commitment to volunteerism.

The League believes that volunteerism is an essential component of our society and is proud to reward this very positive energy.

Brittany Schumacher is a 2008 graduate of Washington Park High School. Her school activities include Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Student Government, Diversity Circles, Ambassador Club, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Cross Country, and Track& Field.

Brittany’s volunteer activities outside of school include Youth as Resources, Park High School Peer Tutor, Box Tops for Education at 21st Century Preparatory School, San Juan Diego Middle School Mentoring, Healthy Choices Program, Park High School Blood Drive, Diversity Conference Planning, Awana Youth Group, Teen Moms, David Penza Silent Auction, Judicial Campaign Volunteer, Vacation Bible School, and All Saints Volunteen Program.

Brittany Schumacher will receive $2,000.00 scholarship at the Junior League’s annual meeting, June 4th. In the fall she will attend Marquette University, pursuing pre-Physical Therapy studies with intentions of Physical Therapy School.

Applications were received from 20 young women who are involved and dedicated to causes within the Racine Community and have established themselves as undeniable role models.
